7 things that must be done if the Super Eagles are to fly high in Brazil 2014
The president of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan believes the Super Eagles can fly high
in Brazil by winning the trophy.. Hmm, bet Mr President didn't
watch the Ethiopia game, if the Eagles will ever win a match at the
coming world cup then we need to step up our game.. The Ethiopians
played with more purpose and hunger, they were just poor in the final
third. I really don't see the Super Eagles going far except they make
these adjustments. Listed below are seven corrections Keshi most make if
we are to have a successful world cup outing:
# Bench Ahmed Musa, I really don't know why he starts almost every game, against Ethiopia I'm sure my grand mum would have performed better. His performance was awful, he shouldn't have lasted more than the first 30 mins and same goes for Brown Ideye. With their performances so far, these two don't deserve playing for 'Cooperative FC'
# Recall Yobo and Osaze at least we need them on the bench, you look at our bench as the manager of the opposing team and u won't help but smile. Our bench lacks any top player. We need the likes of Yobo and Ozase. When Omeruo got injured against Ethiopia, Yobo would have been a better replacement had he been on the bench. I really don't know why we are always in a hurry to cast out players that are above or close to 30.
# Get a better left back, Echejile needs competition, he gets into that team with just too much ease, we need a better attacking player on the left side of defence, a player that can strike a balance between attacking and defending plus we need a top goal scorer to complement Emenike. What happens when Emenike is having a bad day in front of goal?
# Learn to play without the ball: we are not the Spanish National team and not close to them in terms of ball retention,so we will always meet teams who will make us see less of the ball and that shouldn't be an excuse for us to play poorly. we need to learn how to play in games where we tend to see less of the ball. Against Ethiopia in the second half, thee Ethiopians had majority of the possession and every time we had the ball we were short of ideas going forward.
#Ball movement: we need to move the ball faster, though against Ethiopia the pitch was bad but our passes were slow. Looking at our style of play under Keshi, you could see that we tend to play better with the ball, moving the ball faster will give our opponent something to worry about.
# Keep Onazi and Mikel combo, these two were awesome together in midfield, though the latter faded in the second half but that is understandable.
# Finally Shola Amoebi shouldn't be on the plane to Brazil except his club form changes and I really don't see that happening. * we all want our eagles to fly high, I'm sure they will if these changes are made.
Having said all these the decision lies with the coach and that is no one but Stephen Keshi.
